Laguna Beach wedding days already have a reputation for being ridiculously pretty. Still, Jordyn and Dominic’s black-tie celebration at Occasions at Laguna Village somehow made the cliffs, ocean, and overcast skies look even better than usual.
These two originally found me through the venue’s Instagram, and from the second I saw their vision, I knew this day was going to be clean, timeless, and coastal. Just classic black-tie done right. The setting was peak Southern California. Oceanfront cliffs, soft coastal air, and one of those moody overcast beach days photographers quietly pray for. People hear “cloudy wedding day” and panic for absolutely no reason. I was over here thriving with the soft, even, cinematic light. Especially when you’re shooting a mix of digital and film, this kind of weather is elite. Skin tones look incredible, and the ocean gets all soft and dreamy.
Occasions at Laguna Village makes destination weddings feel easy without losing the luxury experience. It sits right on the Laguna Beach coastline with panoramic ocean views. The venue is especially popular for destination weddings and elopements since they offer all-inclusive services for couples planning from out of town. Translation: less logistical chaos, more time enjoying your wedding weekend. They can host up to 180 guests, so it works whether you’re planning an intimate ceremony or inviting every cousin.

Jordyn and Dominic have been together for years. Junior high, to be exact. Which meant this Laguna Beach wedding had the energy of two people finally getting their long-awaited main character ending. You could feel it all day. Their families were emotional, their friends were fully invested, and the ceremony felt incredibly personal.
One of my favorite moments from the entire day was their warming of the rings. Before the rings were exchanged, they passed each ring separately through both sides of the family. As each guest held the rings, they paused for a second to silently say a prayer, blessing, or wish for the couple before passing them along. Such a simple idea with massive emotional impact. It’s so special watching an entire group of people quietly pour love into a marriage before it officially begins. Even as a photographer, someone who sees a lot of weddings, it stood out immediately.

Once Jordyn and Dominic officially became husband and wife, the entire vibe shifted to full celebration mode. We snuck away for portraits along the cliffs while the coast started settling into that soft blue-hour light. Honestly, this venue makes it almost impossible to take a bad photo. Between the ocean views, palm trees, clean white architecture, and the coastal fog rolling in, every direction looked like it belonged in a magazine.
One of my favorite parts of the day was blending digital and film photography throughout everything. The digital images captured the fast-moving candid moments, while the film added nostalgia and a slightly imperfect texture, making the entire gallery feel even more timeless. Especially once the flash came out during the reception. Film at a black-tie wedding near the ocean at night? Yeah. That’s the stuff.
And then came the t-shirt toss. At the end of the night, Jordyn and Dominic stood above the crowd tossing shirts down to their guests while everyone screamed like they were front row at a concert. It was chaotic in the best possible way and honestly the perfect ending for a couple this loved by their people. Just two people who have known each other forever, finally getting married in one of the prettiest places in Southern California, surrounded by everyone who mattered most. Hard to beat that.
